Safer Communities

New Mexico’s violent crime rate is skyrocketing. And yet, activist judges have released hundreds of hardened criminals -- many repeat offenders -- back on to our streets because of loopholes created by recent ‘bail reform’ measures.

In 2019, New Mexico’s violent crime rate was more than double the national rate. It has climbed quickly since 2016, when the bail reform amendment passed.

Our communities are put at risk because our justice system continues to side with criminals over public safety.

New Mexicans pay the price while criminals go free.

“We keep locking them up, but the bail bond laws have changed where they now get right out and commit crimes the next day, and sometimes the same day.”

David Miranda
Detective, Lovington Police Department

The bail reform measure has created a revolving door of crime where criminals are caught and released, only to recommit their crimes again. In fact, one man has been arrested and charged 26 times in the past two years.

Public safety is our priority.

We are committed to reforming our justice system for the safety of our communities. New Mexico must once again prioritize the safety of its residents by keeping hardened criminals behind bars. It starts with electing judges who enforce the laws and know their actions will have an impact on the people of New Mexico.

¡Mañana Mejor! is working to support judges who take their oaths seriously. The public depends on the courts to make the right decisions — elected judges should protect us, not the criminals.
